Beast Stalker

Hi Friends! Time for a movie review. I haven't done that for ages here on my blog, ever since I discovered Flixster on Facebook, hence,
had been doing movie reviews there. But this recent movie that I saw couldn't be found on Flixster, and I felt sooooo compelled to review this movie so I just had to do it here :)

Yes, the title of the movie was Beast Stalker, but fret not, this is not another horror movie of someone stalking a beast. Hmmm... come to think about it, shouldn't it be the beast stalking the man??? LOL

Anyways, the movie was really good.

For those who had not watched it yet, you may STOP READING NOW, if you planned to catch it. Because my next paragraph will be a spoiler. Go ahead leave now. No offences :)

Still here? This is the last chance. See ya in the next post :)

Ok, so here goes the story. You wouldn't be able to grasp the full essence of how good the movie is until you had watched it, from beginning to the end. And yes, the creative "twist" in the plot is at the end. I seriously didn't EXPECT IT!!! Dang! It's like, the whole movie is so fast paced, so full blooded, packed with heart-bursting moments and actions, and then, when you realized how everything is actually connected, wohhhhh........ it's amazing!

It started with a group of policemen, led by their boss (acted by Nicholas Tse), preparing to ambush a drug house. Before I continue, I must commend the acting of Nicholas Tse. I love his singing, his songs, but I seriously must say that his acting had improved tremendously! Serious shit. Pardon me England, but it is THAT good! No kidding. It's like he really put ALL his superbly best effort to bring out his character. I really admire him, how he put up with the scandal of his wife, Cecilia Cheung.

Ok, back to the story. So one thing led to another, there was a car chase. Then there was this traffic light that was RED. Of course, nobody stopped, and then...

A HUGE

BANG!!!

The cops' car were hit by another car from the passenger side, and the bad guys' car managed to just spin off due to the impact of the cops' car crash, and hit another car (a third), not so badly. Nicholas got out, badly injured, while the bad guys got out, and took over the next car (not the one that hit the cops' car) and sped off. In the process of getting away, Nicholas managed to fire a few shots, and I think the gun he used must be so damned powerful that the bullets hit the driver through the boot, through the backseat and through the front seat, and the car crashed. When he got to the car, the driver was dead, the bad guy boss was critically injured, not dead, but THEN, he saw... blood coming out from the boot! And when he opened it, there was a little girl, dead, because his shots went through her! He was so shocked..... that he accidentally killed a little girl. He didn't know there was a girl in the boot. Nobody knew why there was a girl in the boot, until the ending of the movie.

Anyways, months later, Nicholas was still stricken with extreme guilt. And the driver of the third car, the mother of the girl whom Nicholas accidentally killed, was preparing the court case for that bad guy boss who survived. Yes, she was a district attorney. And guess what? She had another daughter, the twin sister of the one who died.

And one thing led to another, the second girl was kidnapped, and the bad guy boss threatened to kill her if the mother didn't "lose" the case, and let the bad guy boss go free.

And the kidnapper was Nick Cheung, who also acted brilliantly. He had been doing bad things for 20 over years. Killing, kidnapping, etc. He was cold-blooded, but at times, showed a soft spot when it comes to taking care of his wife who lays on a bed, paralysed completely. Couldn't move, couldn't speak. He himself had only one eye, and the other eye is not entirely good. It had tiny glass splinters, which seriously needed surgery, or he could go completely blind. With that one eye, he couldn't see properly, no colours. It's just amazing that you could actually feel for a bad guy, the way the director portrayed his sad life and character, but nonetheless, he is still a cold-blooded killer and kidnapper.

Apparently, Nicholas was just a few steps away when the little girl, the second one was kidnapped. And one thing led to another, he tried all means to locate the second girl. I mean, you've got to understand how he feels. He had "killed" one of the girls already. He just couldn't bear the thought (or guilt) of not being able to help save the other one.

And eventually, he found the location of the girl, and one thing led to another - fast forward a little bit - the chase finally reached a deserted basement. Super dark. Amazingly, the wife on the bed, helped cut the little girl's rope-cuffs, and she managed to run free and found Nicholas. But Nick found them both, and he was ordered to kill the girl, because the mom did not follow the bad guy boss' instructions.

A fight ensued, and Nicholas LOST! Dang! And Nick chased the little girl, through a small tunnel, and without hesitation he emptied sand or wood debris, I can't be sure, on the little girl, cos he saw where she was hiding. Nicholas caught up and managed to knock Nick out with a hit on the head with a rock. And then he frantically scrambled to dig and look for the girl. When he found the girl, she was lifeless. Oh man... the expression he had! "Please don't die!!!" "Please wake up!!!" And all that with so much emotion and you really feel that he is sincere, not acting anymore. That was superbly great acting.

And THANK GOD! The girl didn't die!!! You know the drill... the little fingers moved a little, and then the eyes opened. But Nick woke up too!!! OH NO! Nicholas was no match for him. But guess what??? Nick became completely BLIND!!! He fumbled and stumbled! So poor thing! And he stabbed himself when he banged into the wall which had a sharp metal coming out. And he cried out to Nicholas to help him get to his wife, his final request.

All thing's well eh? Is that the end of the movie? NOPE. Here comes the "twist". Nick, the bad guy was actually driving his wife, who was about to deliver their first baby, amniotic fluid came out already, to the hospital. He was panicky, looking at the wife, and then the road, and then the wife and didn't see the cops' car in time. BANG!!! The baby died, but the wife survived, which explains why the wife was completely paralysed, and why Nick lost one of his eyes, and the glass splinters in the other.

The third car, which the bad guys took over, it was before shoving the mother to the floor, they put the little girl into the BOOT!!!
And Nicholas didn't see all that happen, because his car was still turning from side to side due to the impact of the big crash! Had he seen the girl being shoved into the boot, he wouldn't have fired those deadly but accurate shots.

Did you see the brilliance of this movie? I mean, these people's life were connected, tragically, through a traffic accident. They never knew each other before the accident. And the explanations of why this and why that, all because of THAT bad accident. Interesting huh? I just LOVE movies like that! And if you didn't follow my instructions to stop reading this post if you intended to watch this movie, TOO BAD. It wouldn't be nice anymore, now that you know the whole story, and the TWIST at the end.

Ah well, a great movie, and 2 thumbs and 2 big toes up from me! And please don't ask me why the movie title's "Beast Stalker". LOL the ending didn't explain the title. Go ask the director or story writer yourself :p

Thanks Donna. It's more than an action movie, one with a clever plot.
